Ordering

I can't seem to place an order!

If you encounter any issues or errors while placing an order, please don’t hesitate to reach out to us. We’re here to assist you and ensure your experience is smooth and satisfactory.

  • Please note that we temporarily close for orders after December 1st (and occasionally earlier) to focus on fulfilling Christmas orders. We typically reopen for new orders at the beginning of January. During this time, we accept pre-orders for when we resume operations. January can be a particularly busy period due to the influx of pre-orders, so please be aware that there might be some delays in processing and fulfilling orders.

For updates on our order schedule and any potential delays, please check our main page and Facebook page. We do shutdown for orders during other times of the year as well and if we get a big influx of orders we will turn off ordering until we catchup.

Do you charge for shipping?

There is no such thing as free shipping, the price is just inflated to cover costs. I believe in being upfront and honest about things unlike others.

How much is shipping?

You can see the cost in checkout once you input an address. It varies depending on where it goes. If the price looks weird feel free to contact us as there might be an error in the rates.

How long does it take to build my item

  • Each item has it's own time to make (some limited items are pre-made and ship quickly), in the description it has how long it takes to make. Expect on average 1-3 weeks depending on the item size/complexity.
  • There are a limited number of orders per product that I except at once. If it says sold out that usually means I'm not taking any more orders at this time so check back in a few days or contact us.
  • You can contact us before placing an order to get a more accurate time estimate.

I have a really large order, what is the turn around time

This depends on the size, we are a small shop so large orders can have a delay based on the size, the time of year and backlog of current orders. The larger the order the longer it takes.

Can you do a rush order

No, I strive to provide the best quality items I will never compromise on this. The time it takes to make something is the time it takes.

Products

What do you have in stock

  • Items that are in stock are stated in the description.
  • Almost everything is made to order as people routinely want to customize items. I sometimes have items left over from other orders but it's uncommon.

I would like to customize a product

Yes, feel free to contact us with your request.

Where are your products made

  • In Arlington, Va - USA, where my family has lived for many generations.
  • I try to source any parts/tools I use from the USA, Canada or Europe (in that order). Due to the lack of manufacturing in the USA it is not always possible to get my parts (hinges/locks/etc) in the US.

My piece is different from the pictures

  • Wood is a natural product, each section of a tree (let alone different trees) can vary in grain, color and appearance depending on a number of factors. Wood also ages in various ways so will change shades depending on a number of factors.
  • Pictures look different depending on the screen you view them from

looked up the wood on google and it looks different then the items

See above

There seems to be a blemish in the product

  • I believe in leaving the character of the wood in tact as this is what makes each piece unique and beautiful in it's own right. I avoid any large unsightly blemishes (cracks, holes and medium to big knots) for a variety of reasons. A lot of what I use is culled or recycled, during the re-milling process we discard the unsightly stuff unless they will be in a spot that can't be seen (ie underneath).
  • Every piece of wood I use is hand selected by me for the design/product being made.

Laser Engravings vary in appearance/color

  • Real Hardwood has variances in density, Not only does each species vary but there can be Variances on the exact same piece (ex. Maple varies greatly among itself, Cherry is fairly consistent). This density variance can lead to different engraving colors.
  • Mixed wood species items (ex. our games) will vary more then a single wood due to the change in Hardness and color between each wood (ex. Maple is harder and lighter than Cherry). There is no economical way to keep an engraving consistent when crossing from one wood to another. Just like the wood is different so will be the engraving.
  • Care is taken to try and minimize these effects but some variance is expected. Laser Engravings do range from light brown to medium black depending on the wood and engraving area.

Care

How should I store my item?

Wood is a natural material that expands, contracts, and absorbs moisture based on humidity levels. To maintain the integrity of your wooden items, avoid storing them in areas with extreme temperature or humidity. Sudden temperature shifts can be especially damaging, so steer clear of placing them in environments like hot cars, attics, or other spaces prone to significant changes.

Exposure to extreme heat can cause warping or swelling, while extreme cold can lead to rapid shrinkage, potentially causing cracks. For best results, store wood items in a stable, climate-controlled environment to ensure they stay beautiful and durable over time.

What if it gets wet?

Do no wait as it can stain/discolor if left for too long.

  • The Hard finishes we use are resistant to water (Tokens, Premium Dice). Just dry it off
  • The Oil/Wax Finish is a little less resistant (Games/Mark&Hold/Standard Dice). Do not rub, Dab it off and make sure you get to it quickly.

What if I got my beer on it?

Other then a waste of your beverage take a damp towel and wipe it off and then dry it. Do no wait as it can stain/discolor if left for too long

  • The Hard finishes we use are resistant to alcohol (Tokens, Premium Dice). You have more time to wait before it's an issue.
  • The Oil/Wax Finish is a little less resistant (Games/Mark&Hold/Standard Dice). Do not rub vigorously and make sure you get to it quickly.

Environmental Practices

Using wood is environmentally unsustainable!

It’s a common misconception that wood products are unsustainable, but in reality, materials like plastic, metal, and oil-based products have a far greater environmental impact. The wood I use is responsibly sourced with minimal waste, making it an eco-friendly option.

Wood chips and sawdust from my process are completely biodegradable, returning naturally to the earth. All lumber is either locally sourced from within 200 miles of my workshop or salvaged from reclaimed materials. This reduces the carbon footprint associated with harvesting and transportation.

Additionally, I never use exotic woods unless I’ve salvaged them. My commitment to sustainability ensures that each product is crafted with respect for both the environment and natural resources.

What do you do with your waste?

  • All of our wood waste is composted/mulched or used in the process of making smores.. we like smores.
  • Any packaging that can be recycled is recycled.

Do you use any toxic materials?

I prioritize the safety and sustainability of my products, so I do not use wood that has been treated with harmful chemicals, such as pressure-treated lumber, pallets, or barn wood with lead paint.

The majority of the finishes, paints, and glues I use are non-toxic and water-based, ensuring minimal environmental impact and safety for everyday use. Some materials may be toxic in their liquid form, due to the chemical reaction that keeps them in that state before drying. However, once fully cured, they are safe.

As a general rule, it’s best not to chew on any wood products, but rest assured, I make every effort to avoid harmful substances in my work.

  • Our Oil/Wax Finishes are 100% eco-friendly
  • Our Hard Finish blend is eco-friendly, but we do use a propellent for one part of the hard finish.

Re-using packaging

  • I reuse as much packaging as possible that I find, it doesn't save cost (since we have to use tape, labor and etc to make the boxes/envelopes) but it does cut down on the amount of waste generated through shipping. People are always throwing out padded envelopes/boxes/etc !
  • I urge you to recycle/compost any paper packaging you get... you can also shred plastic and use it as filler in your compost bin as it helps with drainage.
